Sika Sikaseal Multi Purpose Silicone (Clear) is an acetoxy-cure silicone sealer that cures fast to produce a high-strength, permanently flexible waterproof seal. Its inclusion of a fungicide stops mould from growing.

USES:

  • Sealing around basins, showers, baths, and other sanitary equipment.
  • Behaving as an adhesive to secure panels, cladding, and uPVC trims.
  • Sealing laminates and worktops.
  • Ideal for sealing aluminium guttering.
  • General draught proofing.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS: Make sure surfaces are dry, spotless, grease- and dust-free. For PVC, wipe the surface with PVC cleaner; for glass, use glass cleaner; and for painted surfaces, use white spirits. Generally speaking, priming is not necessary, but it is advisable to test little areas before use. The following should be included in the joint design:

  • 4-mm is the minimum width. Should a joint's depth exceed its width, movement capacity will be compromised.
  • For the most possible movement accommodation:
  • A joint should be no less than 4 mm deep.
  • Joints up to 10 mm broad should have a 5 mm depth.
  • For joints wider than 10 mm, the depth should be half of the breadth up to 20 mm, and for bigger joints, it should be a minimum of 10 mm.

To shallower deep joints, use expanding foam or an appropriate joint backer rod. Every joint needs to be planned to prevent water traps or retention. The face of a triangle fillet should be flat or convex and no smaller than 12 mm across.

Using care to avoid injuring the thread, cut the cartridge tip. Cut with an opening that is a little bigger than the space to be sealed, applying the nozzle at a 45-degree angle. Apply with a regular sealant gun, being sure to keep the trigger at an even pressure and the surface at an angle. For a strong bond, smooth the sealant using a spatula or board of wood. Use masking tape on both sides of the joint for a cleaner look, then take it off five minutes after application.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Not for the manufacture of aquariums.
  • Not to be used with bitumen or asphalt.
  • Not for use on extremely porous surfaces such as freshly laid concrete or stonework; Sika Plastix 22A or priming is recommended.
  • Not recommended for substrates that could leak solvents, oils, or plasticisers.
  • Use Sika Plastix 22A instead, never close to or in combination with the edge sealant of double-glazed units.
  • Use Sika Plastix 22A instead of this for perimeter pointing uPVC.
  • Use Sika Plastix 22A instead of this product on soft metals like brass and lead.
  • Not unduly painted.
